Description
»The Correspondence of the German Empress Augusta (1811–1890). Writing, Networking, Scope of Action«: The Prussian Queen and German Empress Augusta corresponded with the great political and intellectual figures of her time throughout Europe. As the Consort of Wilhelm I she had no political decision-making power, but she did have a wide scope of action, which can be traced through her letters. This first modern scientific monograph on Augusta analyses over 22,000 letters with almost 500 individuals and sheds light on both the materiality of her correspondence and her epistolary network.
