The Professional Role of Attorneys and their Duty under Section 49a Paragraph 1 of the German Federal Lawyers' Act (BRAO) as an Instrument for Ensuring Equal Access to Justice in Law and Practice«: The study focuses on the practical implementation of the professional duties of lawyers according to § 49a(1) BRAO. Despite legal requirements, there are discrepancies in practice. Statistical analyses and a conducted survey show that lawyers perceive barriers to legal aid, particularly in terms of financial and time resources. Empirical data highlight that a lack of incentives and insufficient awareness of the legal framework affect the willingness to undertake such cases. The need for structural improvements is emphasized.
