Cord Eberspächer

Cord Eberspaecher is Historian and Sinologist. He studied history, sinology and political sciences in Oldenburg, Hamburg, Leiden and Peking and gained his Ph.D. with a study on German Gunboat Diplomacy in China in 2013 from Hamburg University. After research positions at the Secret Prussian State Archive and the University of Bristol he was in charge of the Confucius Institute at the Heinrich Heine University Duesseldorf. He is Full Professor for Comparative Chinese and European History at Hunan Normal University in Changsha, China, and teaches at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn. The focus of his research is modern Chinese history and its global ties, the history of Sino-German relations and the processes of China‘s modernization during the 19th and 20th centuries.
